I believe we are responsible for more than building successful lives for ourselves. The opportunities we're given, the influence we earn, the resources we're blessed with, and the doors that open for us give us the ability—and the responsibility—to make a difference for someone else.
For me, giving back is an expression of stewardship and gratitude before the Lord. Acts 20:35
The most meaningful things we will ever do will never appear on a résumé. They're found in the people we help, the causes we stand behind, the doors we open, and the lives that are changed because we decided to give to and serve others.
That’s why I’m committed to giving back to the community through two worthy charities.
Safe Harbor provides shelter, counseling, advocacy, and support to survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking throughout the Richmond community.
This one is deeply personal to me as I’m a survivor of domestic violence.
I know something about what it takes for a woman to find her voice again, reclaim her life, and decide that what happened to her will not determine what comes next.
Supporting Safe Harbor allows me to stand behind women at a time when having someone in their corner means everything.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) works to end impaired driving and support the victims and families whose lives are forever changed by it.
I know firsthand how quickly a drunk driver can change a life. Weeks before my 21st birthday, I was in a head-on collision with one – and, by God’s grace, I survived.
But the collision left me with permanent scars and became a defining moment in my life. I was given another chance—and I've never taken that lightly.
Supporting MADD is one way I can turn an experience that literally changed my life into something that will hopefully save others.
